The full-size 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and the heavy-duty Silverado 2500 are in their fourth generation. These preferred trucks are desired for their balance of styling, strong performance, and advanced features. However, significant differences between the Silverado 1500 and 2500 require a closer look before your next truck purchase.

Performance

In 2024, the Silverado 1500 comes in your choice of four powertrains. A turbo 2.7-liter, four-cylinder engine pairs with an eight-speed auto transmission to generate 310 horsepower. A 10-speed auto transmission is available with the other engines. The two V8 systems available with the Silverado 1500 are a 5.3-liter, 355-horsepower option and a 6.2-liter, 420-horsepower system. A 3.0-liter turbo, V6 diesel engine is another option, giving you 305 horsepower.

The Silverado 2500’s standard 6.6-liter V8 engine produces 401 horsepower for all trim levels. The turbo-diesel engine is optional and delivers 470 horsepower.

Appearance

These models both show off a modern edge on the classic Silverado design. The Silverado 1500 has a subtly curved, tall nose with a wide grille. This grille is styled with stacked chrome bars framed by S-shaped LED headlights. The sides have deep definition lines and strong fender molding. The larger 2500 has a hood vent, a taller grille, and C-shaped LED headlights. The defined fenders are squared off for a powerful touch.

Features

In various trim levels, the Silverado 1500 is available with semi-automated driving tech, heated front and rear seats, running boards, adaptive cruise control, a surround-view camera, leather seats, a Bose sound system, parking sensors, a wireless charging station, a 13.4-inch touch display screen, a 12.3-inch digital display cluster, Google voice control, and others. The Silverado 2500 builds on these features with remote engine start, driver’s memory settings, an integrated navigation system, auto-dimming and power-folding trailering mirrors, a spray-in bedliner, a power tailgate, a head-up display screen, and others.
